Awesome with crackers, bread, on sandwiches, or just by itself. You will love this recipe and so will everyone around you!
I originally made this recipe to put on my absolute favorite sandwiches list (okay I understand I’m using the word “absolute” loosely since I have so many favorites). It’s a copycat Mediterranean Veggie sandwich from Panera Bread. For years I’ve wondered what they put on their sandwiches that make them so addicting. After reading up about it here, I found out that it was a version of jalapeño cilantro hummus. So I decided to make my own hummus.
The combination of lime, jalapeño, and cilantro is a triple threat. Your tongue will be left with a slightly spicy yet citrusy taste after you eat a spoonful of this.
This hummus is super easy to make because you can just throw everything into the blender or food processor!
Step 1: Rinse and drain the chickpeas.
Step 2: Add in the tahini to the food processor. This was the first hummus recipe I made which contained tahini. And it must be part of the reason why this tastes so good!
Step 3: Add in the garlic, jalapeño, and cilantro.
Step 4: Next, juice 1 lime and half a lemon. Throw that in with the other ingredients.
Step 5: Add in the spices and oil. You can add a bit of water to the mixture, and if the mixture is not the right consistency, feel free to add in more liquid. Next, all you have to do is pulse the blender and use a tamper to beat down all the ingredients!
And voilà! There you have it– a smooth dip or spread that will make any dish special.
