I made these for Thanksgiving appetizers – and they were a hit! Something about the sweetness of the dates blending with the savoriness of the bacon makes these so irresistibly tasty. I prepared them the day before, and just stuck them in the oven day of and voilá!
What else was on the menu you asked? Well aside from all the appetizers we had including a cheese platter and Boston butt, the turkey was accompanied with pastichio (Greek version of lasagna), roasted Brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, sausage and cranberry stuffing, beet and carrot arugula salad, and really, really good bread rolls. Desserts included apple pie (recipe to come), butternut squash pie, nougatina (Greek almond and pudding cake), a la mode ice cream, koulourakia, melomakarona, and a ton of cookies my aunt and cousin baked. Nevertheless, we had plenty of leftovers that somehow only managed to last two days.
If you haven’t checked out one of the desserts I made for Thanksgiving – I made this Peanut Butter Butterscotch Bark! Warning: it is highly addicting.
